If you are ready for some high-flying fun, then head to Barton Orchards in Dutchess County for
your next Road Trip: Close to Home.
A day on a farm with furry friends and family fun is great, but
when you add some ziplining -- you've got a BLAST of a road trip.
Barton Orchards in Poughquag, a family owned business of 45 years, is made up of
180 acres to explore.
You can pick-your-own fruits, but also
get more of an understanding the farming industry. "The idea here to
be on the farm is to actually go out and understand, maybe learn, and be able
to appreciate, not only the growing aspect but also the harvest aspect of it
all," says owner Peter Barton.
And at the barn --
you'll learn something new about farm animals like alpacas and goats at the
petting zoo.
Barton Farms didn’t
forget about your pups -there’s a Bark Park just for them!
And then there is the
farm’s Tree Top Adventures.
A guide will lead
you through all the safety specs and send you through five courses where you can test your
balance, weave through webs, and zip from tree to tree.
Whether it's a cold
adult beverage, some doughnuts
or even just some fresh apple
juice from the orchard, it's a sweet escape on this Road Trip Close to Home.
