The Haverstraw Village mayor pleaded not guilty Monday to driving while ability impaired in the Clarkstown Justice Court.
The Orange County District Attorney?s office will handle Mayor Francis Wassmer?s case after several attorneys and justices in Rockland County recused themselves due to a conflict of interest. Wassmer was arrested in June two hours before he showed a blood alcohol level of .06.
If found guilty, Wassmer faces a $500 fine, up to 15 days in jail and a 90-day license suspension. He is due back in court on October 12.
