The Village of Haverstraw is looking to revitalize its waterfront area, thanks to a $10 million windfall received from the state.
Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut says one goal is to transform the former chair factory waterfront property into a prospering tourist attraction.
"We own nine acres of waterfront that are undeveloped and are in the process of soliciting proposals from developers. We have four developers who have given us four very different proposals," says Kohut.
Business owner Richard Sena says upgrading the area would bring jobs and much needed tourism.
The village says all improvements must be approved by the state. Discussions will begin in the new year with hopes to begin upgrades by the summer.
Ossining also received grant money from the state.
