Head to the farm for the timeless fall tradition of apple picking

It's the first day of autumn which also means apple picking season is in full-swing.
If you are looking to take a road trip to stock up on fresh apples, consider the 35 acres of Stuart's Farm in Granite Springs.
With almost 200 years under its belt, this farm is a great place to go for your fall family fun.
Walk in, buy a bag and browse thousands of trees for dozens of different apples.
Experts say that since the Hudson Valley had a dry summer, you'll see that some of these apples are smaller than usual. But on the positive side, they are very sweet this year.
Also a little smaller this season are the pumpkins. But they're still plump and definitely easier to carry home!
Back at the barn, you'll find plenty of natural fruits and veggies. Plus fresh apple blossom honey sourced by local beekeepers.
A closer look at the farm gives a backdrop into history dating back to the early 1800s along with antique equipment still being used today. "This is our apple grading machine. It's old. My in-laws bought it in 1946 after the war. And when the apples come in, they're going to go in here and get shined," says co-owner Betsy Stuart.
What's an adventure without a snack? At the bakery, you can wrap up your day with the farm's famous apple cider donuts.
