Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Three people are now in custody in connection with an armed carjacking out of New York City. Yonkers police say they responded to the area of Point Street at Ravine Avenue around 3:15 p.m. Sunday to a report of an occupied vehicle wanted in connection to the carjacking. When police arrived, the three suspects tried to flee, resulting in a Yonkers police officer being struck by the suspect's vehicle. The officer is now receiving medical attention for non-life threatening injuries. The suspects were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and are now are in custody at the Detective Division pending further investigation and criminal charges.
Yonkers Police Department responded to a home on Ridge Road just before 4 p.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired from a shotgun. When police arrived, they secured the area and searched around where the call came from, but they say no public safety threat was found. Investigators say they ultimately found no shots were fired. Turns out the incident was a neighbor dispute and News 12 is told a shotgun may have been shown.
The Danbury Fire Department responded to a tractor-trailer crash on I-84 Eastbound, near Route 7 Sunday afternoon. A truck carrying wood rolled over and dumped the entire load onto the highway. News 12 is told the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
