Here are some stories making
headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Spring Valley woman is
facing charges after accusations of intentionally starting a fire. Police say
Barbara Desilva ignited the fire Tuesday at the Golden Acres Adult Home in
Spring Valley where she lived, with the intention to harm another male resident.
Desilva is charged with second-degree arson and attempted second-degree murder.
She is being held in Rockland County Jail on $100,000 bail.
State police say an altercation in a Monticello apartment led to a
break-in, then an assault and shots fired.
Troopers tell News 12 the
home invasion happened at an apartment complex on Harmony Lane Friday when two
men broke into one of the units. They say Andre Fogo and Rachain Wilson, who are both from
Monticello, forced their way into the home to confront a resident about a
previous altercation. Both
men were beating the resident when a second occupant inside the apartment
opened fire with his legal firearm and struck Wilson. State police say the men took off
and drove to Garnet Health Medical Center's Catskill location in Harris where a trooper caught up with the pair. Wilson was
treated and released with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Both men have been charged
with felony burglary and are being held on bail at Sullivan County Jail.
A fire devastated a home in
Congers on Tanglewood Court.
Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. News 12 is told the fire began in the enclosed back
porch and then spread to the home. No injuries have been reported.
