Here are some of the stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
A car crashed into a jewelry store at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center just before noon on Tuesday. Police say a 65-year-old woman was parking when she accelerated, hit a parked car, jumped the sidewalk, and slammed into Landsberg Jewelers. Thankfully, no one inside the store was hurt. The driver and passenger suffered minor injuries.
State troopers are still searching for the driver in a hit-and-run on the Sprain Brook Parkway over the weekend. Officers tell News 12 the incident happened around 5 p.m. on Sunday near Jackson Avenue. The 24-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Yonkers police have identified the victim in Saturday’s deadly shooting as Alvaro Vigueras, of Yonkers. Police say the 20-year-old was walking on Lawrence Street when a car stopped and two men got out and started shooting. Vigueras was found in the lobby of a building and taken to the hospital, where he later died. No arrests have been made.
