A Bronxville CVS store will remain closed indefinitely after an incident involving a car crashing into the building at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday on Pondfield Road. Witnesses reported the incident, and the store manager informed News 12 that a construction company is currently securing the front doors. The building must undergo inspection before it can resume operations. News 12 has reached out to Bronxville Police for further details.
A Highland man, Charles Burgher, has been sentenced to 56 years in state prison for raping his kids' former babysitter. Last year, Burgher was apprehended at the 9-W Motel in the Town of Ulster after a prolonged five-and-a-half-hour standoff with law enforcement. He was found in the company of his victim and had intentions of taking her to New York City the following day. Burgher's prison sentence will be followed by 15 years of post-release supervision. The victim regularly cared for Burgher's four children.
