Federal child pornography charges have been dismissed against an Eastchester attorney. Androsky Lugo was charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey two years ago, with possessing child pornography and transporting it. The office has dismissed the charges but Lugo still faces charges in Westchester, for promoting and possessing child pornography and unlawful surveillance of a minor.
A New Paltz man has been convicted for sexually abusing a family friend, while she was in her car. Prosecutors say Alixandro Peraza Varela sexually assaulted the woman last February. She called him to help get her car out of the mud and Peraza Varela assaulted her as she tried to drive away. He now must register as a sex offender in New York. He is expected to be sentenced in October.
Police responded to a call early Wednesday morning about a suspicious man looking into vehicles at the Beacon Train Station. The man initially gave a false name, but police later identified him as Manuel Roldan of Spring Valley. Authorities say Roldan has been wanted for leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was turned over to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. No further details about the accident or the victim were immediately available.
