Luis Contreras Paredes, 34, of Peekskill, is facing felony assault charges after allegedly stabbing a man outside a Cortlandt bar last month. State police say Contreras Paredes got into a fight outside "My Second House" bar on Crompond Road in May. During the altercation, he reportedly stabbed the victim. After being arrested, Contreras Paredes was turned over to the Westchester County Corrections Department due to an active, unrelated arrest warrant. He is now facing felony assault charges related to the stabbing incident.
Kyle Hernandez, of Long Island, is being held at Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash bail after being arrested for sexually abusing a child under the age of 11. State police say an investigation found that Hernandez sexually abused the child. He is scheduled to appear in court this week.
The New York State Department of Health has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus in a pool of mosquitoes collected from a test trap in Orangetown, Rockland County. The last reported case of West Nile Virus in Rockland was in 2022. The virus often causes mild or moderate flu-like symptoms, but can be more serious for those over 60 and those with existing health conditions. The Rockland County Health Department is reminding residents to remove any standing water from their property to prevent mosquito breeding.
