Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.

A man has died in a fire at a residence on 49 Laurel Road in Central Nyack this weekend. Officials say the man's neighbors called about a porch fire. When emergency crews got on the scene, the fire was raging inside the house and on the porch.Firefighters pulled the man from the second floor, but he succumbed to his injuries. It took eight different fire departments to get the fire under control.

A driver is now in stable condition, after being rescued by White Plains firefighters. Police say it happened on Putnam Avenue in the Battle Hill section of the city. The driver suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the car which then fell down an embankment. When emergency crews reached the man, he was unconscious and not breathing. They were able to bring him back up the hill through a rope system and resuscitated him.

A suspect is now in custody after resisting arrest in Poughkeepsie. Police responded to a disturbance call on North Bridge Street. According to police, Shanteek Gaines attempted to resist arrest by fighting and biting officers. Gaines was later arrested and faces domestic related charges, including resisting arrest.
