Headlines: Fatal shooting in Mt. Vernon, Peekskill HAZMAT scare
Here are some of the stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
Mount Vernon police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting Saturday night. Police say 35-year-old Warren Clahar, of Mount Vernon, was sitting in his vehicle in front of 232 South Fulton Ave. when he was shot around 10 p.m. Police have not arrested the shooter, but they arrested two people for charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while officers attempted to render aid to the victim and begin the investigation.
Anyone who has information about the shooting is encouraged to call 914-668-6841.
The hazardous materials response team had to be called to the scene after a tractor-trailer crashed into a barrier in Peekskill Sunday and started leaking fuel. Police say the accident happened early Sunday morning on Route 9, near the Louisa Street exit. No injuries were reported and the road was cleared a few hours later.
