Here are some stories making headlines today across the Hudson Valley.
Luis Rondon, a former Orange County peace officer, was found guilty by a jury for beating his former lover Deborah Waldinger to death with a hammer. It happened in 2019 inside her New Windsor apartment. He faces 25 years to life in prison.
Matthew Savinovich is accused of killing three chihuahuas and a ferret between December 2019 and November 2020 in Putnam County. He's charged with felony burglary, four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight other misdemeanor charges.
A DWI trial for Mets acting General Manager Zack Scott was set for Dec. 8. during a hearing in White Plains City Court. Police say Scott was found sleeping in his car on South Lexington Avenue in August. They say he failed his field sobriety test at the time of the arrest. He is on administrative leave until further notice.
