Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Middletown man will spend 13 years behind bars after shooting two teenagers on a Port Jervis street corner. Mario Mateos, 22, pleaded guilty earlier this year to assault. Last September, Mateos shot two 16-year-olds at the intersection of Barcelow Street and Seward Avenue. Both teens survived the attack.
It was a close call in New Rochelle after a bullet flew through a man’s living room window while he was sleeping. Police say it happened around 4 a.m. on Monday at a home on the 100 block of Drake Avenue. Police say the resident was sleeping in the living room when the sound of glass breaking woke him up. No injuries have been reported. No arrests have been made.
Several officers were injured during an inmate attack at Fishkill Correctional Facility. News 12 is told the officer and a female sergeant sustained nasal fractures in the attack by a 20-year-old inmate. Three other officers were treated at the hospital for pain and swelling to their wrists and hands.
