Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Harrison police are charging two men with grand larceny after they played out a grandma scam. Police say an elderly couple received a call from a person who claimed to be their grandson. He said he was in jail and needed money to make bail. Unaware of the scam, the couple withdrew $9,000 in cash. The two men, Derly Marte and Jaime Castillo, then came to Harrison and got the cash. Police believe the suspects were involved in other scams in the county as they continue to investigate.
A 16-year-old from Haverstraw has been arrested by police. They say the child is connected to several robberies over the past month. Because of his age, the teen's name is not being released.
Shots fired in the City of Poughkeepsie have police looking for answers. Police say, at around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, a report came in of shots fired near Market Street and South Avenue. Officers say they didn't find any victims, but they did find several pieces of evidence, including a shell casing. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police.
