Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Nyack man allegedly brandished a gun during a dispute in the parking lot of his former workplace. Orangetown police reported that Brian Perrone, accompanied by his wife who is still employed at the location, was having lunch in the parking lot when an argument ensued between the couple. According to police reports, Perrone lifted his shirt during the altercation to reveal a gun. However, authorities clarified that Perrone possesses a valid pistol permit and did not draw or discharge the weapon. Following the incident, Perrone allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by police, charged and subsequently released.
A New Windsor woman, Lucia Costa, has entered a guilty plea following allegations of leading police on a high-speed chase. Authorities reported that Costa was initially pulled over in March 2023 for driving while intoxicated. Despite being stopped, Costa allegedly reentered her vehicle and initiated a chase with police reaching speeds of up to 85 mph. Detectives say Costa was stopped again and resisted arrest by kicking and spitting at officers. Costa was subsequently charged with assault and DWI.
