Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
James Cherry III, a 33-year-old Putnam County resident, is facing charges for allegedly murdering his 56-year-old father, James Cherry Jr. State police report that the son beat his father to death. Whileresponding to the incident at their residence on River Road in the town of Patterson on Sunday, police arrested the son, who has since been arraigned in Patterson Town Court. He is currently being held without bail in Putnam County Jail.
Joshua Jemison, a Spring Valley resident, is facing charges after allegedly slashing a 34-year-old victim in the neck at a local convenience store on Sept. 5. The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries but is now in stable condition. Jemison is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Crews in Dutchess County are being credited with extinguishing a fire at an old factory. The two-alarm fire occurred on Fairview Avenue in Poughkeepsie at the former Shatz Federal Factory. The fire is currently under investigation, with natural causes ruled out. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
