A manhole explosion knocked out power to a neighborhood in New Rochelle on Sunday. Heavy smoke
could be seen in the North Avenue area yesterday morning. News 12 was told
about a hundred Con Ed customers lost power as a result. No one was injured.
Police are still working to determine a cause.
Yonkers police say Michael Santiago, 34, has been charged
with shooting a 43-year-old woman Saturday night. Police say the shooting
stemmed from a dispute in an apartment 129 Saratoga
Ave., between the suspect and the victim’s 24-year-old son. Santiago
left the apartment, and then returned and allegedly fired several shots through the victim’s closed apartment door, striking
the victim. She is listed in stable condition. Police say he then fired several
more shots at the victim’s apartment window, before fleeing. Santiago was
arrested Sunday evening and has been charged with attempted murder and criminal
possession of a weapon.
A
fire at a large commercial complex in Middletown is finally out. Firefighters
battled flames for four days after flames tore through several buildings starting
on Thursday.A movie studio and storage space
rented by PepsiCo's Frito-Lays and Amazon were
destroyed
