A Mount Vernon man is facing charges for assaulting a man at the New Rochelle train station. The incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a 65-year-old man reported that the suspect approached him and asked for money. When the victim refused, the suspect punched him in the face and fled the scene. The victim received treatment at a local hospital for his injuries. Police arrested Troy Williams about an hour later when he returned to the train station. Williams is now facing assault charges in connection with the incident.
A New Windsor man has been arrested for contractor fraud, according to the Orange County District Attorney. Gary Maldonado is accused of convincing two victims to give him money for home improvement projects. However, Maldonado allegedly failed to perform the work promised and did not refund the victims their money. He now faces multiple charges, including grand larceny and scheming to defraud, in connection with the case.
A Rockland man has been sentenced to five years of probation for illegally selling "elephant ivory pool cues." Kenneth Kerner of Clarkstown admitted to selling $70,000 worth of elephant ivory pool cues. The New York County District Attorney's Office stated that he sold them for around $45,000.In addition to probation, Kerner will also have to complete 200 hours of community service and donate $10,000 to a wildlife organization as part of his sentencing.
