Father William Damroth, an Orange County priest, has been arrested for alleged theft from St. Theresa's Parish in Newburgh, according to state police. The archdiocese confirmed the priest's arrest for grand larceny last week and stated that he had been on a leave of absence. The case will be heard by a grand jury, as confirmed by the district attorney's office.
Police have made an arrest related to shots fired in a New Rochelle apartment on Beechwood Avenue on Sunday night. Javier Lopez, aged 34, was apprehended, and a handgun was recovered. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and currently, no motive has been identified for the incident.
New Rochelle police have charged a city resident with drunk driving after he struck 16 parked vehicles. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Mayflower and Pelham-Dale Avenues area. James Tozzo was arrested and charged with a DWI following police response to the scene.
