Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Port Chester police officer is recovering after an alleged drunk driver hit his parked police car over the weekend. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at the traffic light at Westchester and North Main streets. The vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and hit the front and driver's side of the police car. The driver of that car, a 24-year-old White Plains resident was not injured. The unlicensed driver was placed under arrest. The officer was treated and released from the hospital.
A Texas man has been arrested after multiple shots were fired near Convent Road in Nanuet. Following witness descriptions of the vehicle, officers stopped a car and located two handguns inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held at the Rockland County Jail.
Cleanup continues after Ida and volunteers are stepping in to help the community. After major flooding, a lot of debris washed into Blind Brook watershed. Volunteers have been going out in paddle boards, kayaks, small boats to haul debris out of the water where DPW has been removing it.
