State police identified the officers who fatally shot a man authorities say was attacking a woman last week in Putnam County. Authorities say Senior Investigator Randel Hill and Deputy Shane Haley, of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, fired at 34-year-old Christopher Torres after witnessing him stabbing a woman. Torres, of Carmel, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Newburgh man is now in custody after failing to appear in court in connection to a shooting and weapons case. John DiCaprio was arraigned last month on two counts of criminal possession. He was released on bail. Two days later, he was arrested again on more charges. He failed to appear in court twice last week.

Two teens from Westchester County are in police custody facing charges for attempted murder. Police say 18-year-old Ku-Shown Jefferson, from Yonkers, and 18-year-old Donte Ramsey, from Mount Vernon, were both involved in a shooting incident that left a man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg. The incident happened three days after Christmas near Yonkers Avenue. Jefferson was taken into custody two days later. Ramsey was arrested in Mount Vernon two weeks ago. Police say they believe the suspects and the apparent victim were known to each other and engaged in a gun fight on city streets. The injured suspect was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
