A Newburgh man has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for shooting his wife with a BB gun and striking her with it. Officials say Steven Lillo got into an argument with his wife in July 2021, grabbed the weapon, shot her five times then used the weapon to strike her. The victim's 7-year-old child witnessed the incident and called police, according to the Orange County District Attorney. Officials say Lillo faces up to seven years in prison when sentenced.
A Saugerties man will be back in court today on charges of arson, insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement. State police say they found William Duryea's car on fire in Hasbrouck Park in Kingston last December. Duryea told police he left his keys in the car when he went to work, and someone must have stolen it.
