Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A former town trustee and substitute teacher in Cold Spring was sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to receive child porn from his 16-year-old former student. Officials say Charles Hustis sent the teen sexual pictures on Facebook and asked for pictures in return. The 37-year-old was arrested by officers while trying to meet up with the victim to take him back to his apartment in 2019.
The driver of a tractor-trailer is dead after a crash on I-87 near exit 17 in Newburgh on Tuesday. Michael L. Guerra, 64, was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer when he rear-ended another trailer. Guerra was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else involved in the crash was seriously hurt. One witness spoke to News 12 about what he saw. "I heard this big boom. And I ran to the hill to see what happened and I seen two trucks collide and smoke was there and the guy was yelling get out! Get out!" says Jason Vandemark. Police say at least one of the trucks was carrying hazardous materials.
A tractor-trailer caught fire on I-95 Tuesday. Police say the fire happened in the southbound lanes, just north of the Larchmont overpass. There is no word of any injuries or what caused the fire.
