“A total loss.” That's what fire officials are calling a house in Valley Cottage after flames tore through the structure late last night. Several propane tanks and primary wires were exploding in the back of the house as well. Crews rushed to the scene at 761 Route 9-W. It took firefighters about an hour and a half to extinguish the flames. A neighbor helped one person inside the home get out OK. The fire does not appear to be suspicious.
A 45-year-old Yorktown man was arrested and faces charges in a fatal hit-and-run crash. Police say Demetrios Doupis, 40, was struck and killed along Route 6 in Shrub Oak Wednesday night. Yorktown police say Marcos Suscal is accused of leaving the scene of an accident.
Former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino tells News 12 he is "considering" running for New York governor. He says several big donors and GOP leaders approached him about a run in the 2022 election. In 2014, Gov. Andrew Cuomo defeated Astorino.
