Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Two Wallkill men are facing charges for allegedly raping a pair of victims at the same residence. State police say they responded to a report of sexual assault at a home in the Town of Shawangunk. They say Ronald Paul Dean sexually assaulted one victim at the residence - and Dean and Lawrence James Wilson both assaulted a second victim. Both men are charged with first degree rape and are being held in Ulster County Jail.
A house in Warwick was struck by a stray bullet, causing damage to the property. The incident occurred on Crystal Farm Road, where a group of licensed firearm owners were legally engaged in target practice in a rural, yet residential area on Jones Road. Fortunately, no one was inside the house at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries reported. The homeowner stated that the group responsible for the stray bullet has agreed to compensate for the broken window.
Robert Jemerson, a resident of Newburgh, has been found guilty on gun possession charges following a police chase. During a traffic stop, Jemerson, who was a passenger in the vehicle, fled from the police. He was pursued by law enforcement and attempted to discard a loaded revolver into a nearby pond in Downing Park. Jemerson then jumped into the pond, prompting police to rescue him to prevent drowning. He is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
