ALERTS: Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. Wednesday
While you can still enjoy summer outdoor activities during very hot weather, it is vitally important to go indoors in air conditioning from time to time. Many times, you don't realize how quickly extreme heat is dehydrating you or taking a toll on your body. Use extra caution and do not overexert yourself today through Wednesday.
There can also be some elevated smoke from Canadian wildfires higher in the atmosphere today. I do not think it will be as bad as this past Saturday, and air quality is expected to be moderate, but the entire News 12 Storm Watch Team will also keep a close eye on this for you.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to be well into the 90s through Wednesday. This means that this will very likely become an official heat wave for the lower Hudson Valley by Wednesday afternoon. Remember, for an official heat wave you need three or more consecutive days when the actual air temperature hits 90 degrees or higher. Regardless, it is still going to feel like around 100 degrees for three straight days.
RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEK: A few spotty thunderstorms cannot be ruled out on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The next best chance for off-and-on rain will be on Thursday.
INCREDIBLE RELIEF INTO THE WEEKEND! Thursday will act as our transition day to more refreshing air. Once we get past Thursday's rain chances, it will feel much more comfortable starting on Friday and dry weather is then expected to stick around through the weekend and into next week!
Have a great Monday and stay cool!
