A section of highway in Rockland County is now named after fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd.
Lloyd’s parents were on hand along to dedicate the northbound side of Route 45 north of Eckerson Road as Firefighter Jared Lloyd Memorial Highway.
Lloyd lost his life in the line of duty during the tragic fire at Evergreen Court in March 2021. His brave actions and the actions of his fellow firefighters saved over 100 lives.
The unveiling was a little different than others. The sign was revealed in the middle of the conference. Some blamed it on Mother Nature, but others say it was a sign from above.
The bill responsible for designating a portion of the highway to Jared Lloyd was unanimously passed in both legislative chambers earlier this spring.
