Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday announced an investment to help support people with disabilities across New York state.

Hochul said $32 million will go towards expanding the direct support professional micro-credential program offered by the State University of New York. The program works directly with the office for people with disabilities to help strengthen skills and increase mobility in the workforce.

The funding will allow SUNY schools to expand the program on campuses where it already exists and add it to other campuses.

SUNY anticipates supporting up to 6,000 students through the program by 2030.
