The family of 7, with 5 children between the ages of 6 and 17, all got out safely.

The fire went to two alarms as the flames spread to the home. A portion of Route 9W was closed as first responders from several departments came in to fight the flames.

The house is located on a hill in a heavily wooded area; while some crews worked on the house, others tried to keep the trees and brush from catching fire. It took about 25 firefighters an hour to get the flames under control.

Investigators are now trying to determine the cause. Police reopened Route 9W just after 7:30.
