Hudson River Museum prepares for sold-out solar eclipse party

Hudson River Museum staff members were busy setting up solar telescopes in a courtyard at the building on Sunday in preparation for Monday’s solar eclipse.
Marc Taylor, the senior manager of planetarium and science programs, told News 12 that the telescopes will be used at the museum's Super Solar Eclipse Viewing Party.
"We'll have four telescopes set up, and other demonstrations and activities," Taylor said.
The sold-out viewing party is scheduled to kick off around 2 p.m.

"It always surprises me a little bit – which astronomical phenomena excite[s] people," Taylor said.
According to planet expert, they've been prepping for the celestial event for about two years now. That included securing enough solar eclipse glasses for guests.
Joe Yochman, a visitor at the museum, said he got his pair just in time.
"I bought them in the gift shop," Yochman said.
The glasses are now sold out at the gift shop too. The staff said there is still a way to view the eclipse safely using a homemade device called a pinhole viewer.
