A longtime Hudson Valley ambulance supervisor has been arrested for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material — the latest development in a case now under investigation by state police.

Authorities say 44-year-old Joseph Reardon, of Walden, was taken into custody last week. Reardon, who most recently worked as an operations supervisor with AmbuLNZ in Newburgh, was charged with felony possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child under the age of 16.

Investigators say the case began in December 2024 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children flagged a CyberTip that was traced back to Reardon. He was processed and released on an appearance ticket, with a court date scheduled for next month.

AmbuLNZ officials confirmed to News 12 that Reardon is now on unpaid administrative leave.

This is not the first time Reardon has come under the spotlight. In 2022, News 12 interviewed him while he was serving as chief of the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as the town moved to dissolve the organization.

After that coverage, an anonymous tipster provided News 12 with a video that appeared to show Reardon spanking someone who looked like a minor inside the ambulance building. The video raised questions at the time about his leadership role.

Reardon was never charged in connection with that incident, and officials did not confirm whether it was investigated further.

State police say the current case remains active and under investigation. Reardon has not publicly responded to the charge. News 12 has reached out to his former employers in the Town of Cornwall for comment but has not received a reply.
