Law enforcement officials say the Hudson Valley Safe Streets Taskforce has conducted a gang raid this morning in the city of Newburgh, the town of Newburgh and city of Port Jervis.
They say the raid started around 5:30 a.m. today and mainly wrapped up by 8:30 a.m.
Officials say it was not a drug raid, but a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) case, in which the suspects will be charged in homicides, shootings, stabbings and other crimes over the past three or four years.
Those named in the indictment, mostly members of the Newburgh Bloods and their associates, are charged with capitol crimes and could face the death penalty or serious time.
This is the third major gang raid targeting the city of Newburgh since 2010.
A press conference will be held at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon with the representatives from the U.S. Attorney's OFffice, DEA, ICE, state, county and local officials.
