Hudson Valley lawmakers secure extension of ban on ghost guns
The Undetectable Firearms Act prohibits the selling, making, and owning of any gun that is less than 3.7 ounces of metal. If it is less, it won't set off a metal detector.

Spearheaded by Hudson Valley lawmakers, an extension of a law banning ghost guns was just reauthorized for another 7 years.
The Undetectable Firearms Act prohibits the selling, making, and owning of any gun that is less than 3.7 ounces of metal. If it is less, it won't set off a metal detector.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R) introduced the bill. "Whether they're traveling at the airport or attending their favorite sports team's game or they're attending a concert. We want to make sure that people are safe. So if you have this expire, you would be able to have guns manufactured that could evade metal detectors," Rep. Lawler says.
The Undetectable Firearms Act has been in place since 1988.
