It's certainly understandable that commuters in the Hudson Valley, especially those who normally take the subway once they get into the city, would feel a bit uneasy today after Tuesday's shooting in Brooklyn.

In addition to NYPD and Metro-North police, local police departments are ramping up security near Hudson Valley train stations.

Extra police patrols at local stations were deployed almost immediately following the shooting.

Police officials across Westchester tell News 12 they are making a few procedural changes to make sure there is a bigger presence for the morning commute today.

In New Rochelle, they have at least two dedicated officers on the platform plus SWAT team checks being done. "Any major incident that occurs especially in New York City, or this area of the country in fact world-wide we just take precautions on our end to keep the local citizens safe," says New Rochelle Police Capt. J. Collins Coyne.

Police officials say at this point they haven't received word of any threats in our area. Still, they are asking riders to be vigilant, and if you see something - say something.

The suspect, Frank James, 62, has been taken into custody, according to sources.
