Crystal Run Healthcare is now transitioning its in-house laboratory services to Quest Diagnostics.
Optum, which purchased the multispecialty medical group in 2023, confirmed the information after several lab employees, previously employed by at least one Hudson Valley location, reached out to News 12 saying there were “hundreds of company layoffs” late last month.
“We regularly evaluate our business so we can best meet the needs of our patients and deliver on strategic priorities,” says a company representative. “As a result, we have decided to transition our laboratory testing services to Quest Diagnostics. Both companies are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for team members and patients.”
The practice has 15 locations in Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties, which are among a total of 2,000 locations nationwide.
Employees say the layoffs came as a surprise and followed contract negotiations for increased pay and benefits that were set to begin in October.
“We were let go in such a disgusting way and it wasn’t right,” says a former laboratory employee who asked not to be identified. “We were manipulated by our bosses just to be thrown out like trash.”
The company has not confirmed which locations are impacted. It also has not confirmed the number of layoffs or the reason for the decision.
