Explosions during a large police raid startled neighbors in a normally quiet neighborhood of Yonkers this morning.
Police say Yonkers detectives and the FBI executed a search warrant during a firearms investigation on 326 Roberts Ave. near Valley Avenue.
Yonkers police confirm the investigation led to a federal arrest warrant.
The FBI confirms one person is currently in custody.
Yonkers police say the department's gang unit and major case squad -- along with county police -- assisted the FBI Street's Safe Task Force in the raid.
Dozens of officers, SWAT teams in tactical gear, and a heavy assault vehicle could be seen outside the house.
Neighbors tell News 12 they heard large explosions. “Around 5 a.m. I heard a bomb-like noise coming from the backyard. There was two of them. Sounded like a big explosion. I thought lightning hit my door, but then I looked out and saw it wasn't raining. And then I heard it again, so I got really nervous," says Tatiana Terlecky, of Yonkers.
Police say there is no danger to the public and that no one was injured during the raid.
