Identity theft is becoming a growing problem for shoppers in the Hudson Valley this holiday season.
State Senator Thomas Morahan (R-New City) and Clarkstown police joined forces to offer ways to prevent area residents from becoming victims of identity theft. Morahan and police are urging people to report stolen credit cards immediately. Stolen credit cards are being used not only at the Nanuet Mall but also at the Palisades Center.
Rockland County ranks second for the highest number of crimes related to identity theft in the state. Anyone who feels they have been a victim of identity theft should call the Federal Trade Commission at 877-ID-THEFT.
