The decision to move cross country for a job is allowing a lesbian couple from Nyack to make their union official.
Claire and Toni Bonde decided to give up the Hudson River and other slices of New York life after Toni landed a new job in San Francisco. After deciding to move, the couple learned California will now allow same-sex marriages.
"Toni's wanted to get married for a long time, and I've always told her not until it's legally recognized," says Claire. "So I pretty much thought I was safe that it was never going to happen."
"I said I guess you're out of excuses you have to marry me now," jokes Toni.
The couple is leaving next week with their twin 9-year-old sons and plan on getting hitched in June.
