An investigation by the state Department of Labor found problems with the ride at Rye Playland where a 7-year-old boy died.
The probe finds that John Kely Cassara, of Connecticut, slipped through a 14-inch gap in the ride?s floor and became wedged under its conveyor belts. The investigation also found that two of the four operators assigned to Ye Old Mill boat ride were not present when Cassara was boarding the ride.
Westchester County Executive Andy Spano says the county-owned park will make the necessary changes. However, he says the report does not show that the park is responsible for Cassara?s death.
