An investigation is underway in Nyack following the discovery of a racial slur on school grounds last week.

In a letter, the Nyack superintendent disclosed that the "N word" was found on a bathroom wall at Liberty Elementary School.

The offensive language has since been removed. Clarkstown police and the district are actively investigating the incident.

Officials emphasize that the person responsible will be held accountable and stress that hate has no place in their schools.
