Islanders to open new public pond hockey rink Friday

Islanders legends will be on hand Friday for a ceremonial puck drop and a "Light Up The Park" pregame public skate on their two public pond hockey rinks.

The New York Islanders are officially opening their new outdoor winter wonderland Friday.
Season ticket holders got to skate on the ponds before Wednesday night's game.
Islanders legends will be on hand for a ceremonial puck drop and a "Light Up The Park" pregame public skate on their two public pond hockey rinks.
After the ceremony and skate, they'll have a parade from the park to the arena for the Isles game against the Capitals.
