The Rye City School District is set to carry out live tactical drills at Rye High School and middle schools this week.

The drills, commencing on Tuesday and continuing until Thursday, Aug. 10, will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The primary objective of these training exercises is to familiarize police personnel with the layout and structure of the school premises.

Rye authorities are advising residents in the vicinity to be aware that blank ammunition will be utilized during the drills.

As a result, residents should not be alarmed if they hear loud sounds originating from the school grounds. These measures are vital in enhancing preparedness and safety protocols for potential emergency situations.
