A jackknifed semi-trailer blocked lanes in both directions on I-87 in Nanuet Tuesday morning.
Police say the crash happened just after 6 a.m. near exits 14B and 14A.
They say the truck partially crashed through the divider separating the highway.
The driver was not injured.
None of the truck's cargo spilled out, but there was plenty to clean up. It took crews hours to drag the rig to one side and haul it away.
Traffic was backed up 6 miles on the southbound side and 2 miles on the north with traffic at times at a complete standstill.
The left and center lanes were closed while the crash was cleared, but those lanes are now reopened.
