A chaplain was suspended after officials say she distributed anti-Islamic pamphlets to inmates at the Rockland County Jail.
Officials say the booklets Rev. Teresa Darden Clapp gave out depicted Muslims blowing up buildings in order to carry out the will of Allah. It claims Allah is not God and is just an idol.
Muslim inmates said the insults were made worse by drawings of Muhammad in the pamphlets. Islam forbids the depiction of any prophet from the Quran.
Clapp has been the jail chaplain since 1994. The sheriff says he wants the investigation to run its course based on the good job Clapp has done in the past. He says his staff did not know about the booklets.
