A Goshen jury failed Wednesday to reach a verdict in its fifth day of deliberations in a Middletown cop-shooting trial.

Raymond Zayas is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at three officers last July as they responded to a domestic call at his house. Rookie cop Chris Dolan was seriously injured, but is back on the job now.

A day after juror number six was replaced for taking home notes instead of leaving them in the jury room, jurors continued to ask for "read backs." Jurors have passed an unusual 38 notes to the judge asking for read backs of testimony and definitions of charges.

Historically, the longer a jury remains undecided, the more favorable for the defendant. However, a Newburgh attorney told News 12 Hudson Valley there's a good chance that Zayas may still be convicted.

Deliberations resume Thursday.
