Jury selection began Monday in the trial of an illegal immigrant charged with brutally murdering a New City mother. Once the jurors are picked, they will decide the fate of 30-year-old Ronald Douglas Herrera Castellanos. The illegal immigrant from Guatemala is accused of raping and murdering 42-year-old Mary Nagle in April of last year. Police say Herrera broke into the Nagles' home on Tamarac Avenue when he was supposed to be there to power wash the house. Herrera was arrested a few hours after the crime. The trial is expected to last about three weeks once the jury is selected. Herrera could get life in prison without parole if convicted.
