A Kingston man has been charged in a barbershop stabbing Thursday evening that seriously injured a victim.
Viewer images obtained by News 12 show law enforcement outside of the First Capitol Beauty and Barber Supply on Broadway after they say a person inside the business was stabbed in the stomach.
Kingston police say the suspect, 41-year-old Gunercindo Diaz-Diaz, was found outside nearby holding a knife to their neck.
State police tased Diaz-Diaz to get him safely into custody. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon after he was treated at the hospital for what police say was a minor, self-inflicted knife wound.
Police say the attack was random, that the victim and suspect weren’t known to each other and that Diaz-Diaz appeared to be intoxicated.
The victim underwent emergency surgery and is in stable condition, according to police.
Diaz-Diaz is scheduled to be arraigned in City of Kingston Court.
