A 22-year-old man was killed in Edison this morning on Route 1 south and Plainfield Avenue, Deputy Chief Robert Dudash confirmed to News 12 New Jersey.

Dudash says the man, a resident of Edison, was on an electric scooter crossing Route 1 south when he was struck by a black SUV.

There’s no word on the condition of the driver of the SUV, a 61-year-old male resident of Rahway.

According to Dudash, an investigation of the accident showed the scooter was crossing against the green light. He says there is currently no wrongdoing from the SUV driver.
