A quick-moving storm Thursday thought to have been a microburst in Beacon is actually the result of strong wind gusts, the National Weather Service says.
DPW workers worked overnight in Beacon to clean up a tree and wires downed during the weather event.
The Beacon Police Department posted to Facebook photos of a massive tree knocked over near the intersection of Beekman and High streets.
The National Weather Service says that because the damage was isolated to that one area, the storm wasn't a microburst.
The area has since reopened and the streets have been cleaned up.
